Windy weekend doesn't ruffle Seahawks

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Sending teams to two ranking regattas this past weekend, the Seahawks battled through high winds and rain to capture top 10 finishes. Sailing at University of Vermont at the Lake Champlain Open, co-captain Bob Lippincott, junior Baillie Lawless, sophomores JP Silvestri and Angelina Todaro worked hard for a ninth-place finish.

"Saturday was extremely difficult conditions," commented coach Michael Komar. "Rarely in college sailing do you see racing take place in such high winds."

Sailing at Boston College, co-captain Chris Jensen with crew Hayden Maguire found their fair share of challenges too.  Despite a difficult day one on Saturday that had the team in 12thplace heading into day two, a commanding performance by the two on Sunday shot them into 5th place into their division by the end of the event.

"We were both really frustrated with our races on Saturday," noted Jensen.  "We wanted to show them we had something to prove out there."

Junior Pierce Conlin and sophomore Katie Travers sailed in B division for the Seahawks and completed impressive races themselves, finishing in the top 10 on four separate occasions.
