Behn leads Seahawks at Western New England
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Shane Behn (Makawao, Hawaii) set the pace for Salve Regina in the Golden Bear Invitational at Western New England University on Saturday. The junior raced to his second-fastest performance at 8,000 meters, crossing the finish line at 30:41.7.
Sophomore Ty Gallagher (Goffstown, N.H.) and junior Patrick Voli (Bloomingdale, N.J.) finished within one second of each other – at 31:12.5 and 31:13.0 – after a back-and-forth battle during the final 300 meters of the race.
Maine Maritime placed its first four runners inside the top 10 to earn a narrow victory over SUNY Cobleskill. Ben Butterfield and Ponce Saltysiak led the Mariners, finishing at 27:12.8 and 27:13.4. Nick Logan of SUNY Cobleskill was the individual winner, crossing the line at 26:21.4.
