Personal improvements highlight Seahawk performances at Pop Crowell

WENHAM, Mass. - Salve Regina University men's cross country finished 19th out of 23 teams at the Pop Crowell Invitational while posting outstanding personal improvements over its five-mile performances last year, on the same Gordon course under similar weather conditions.

Still adjusting to the five-mile race-distance (high school was 3.1-miles) freshman Sean Fritsch [Manchester, Conn.] led the Seahawks with an 83rd place performance, as he ran 30:08 [6:04 per mile pace], a respectable time for a freshman whose specialty is a much shorter 800-meters on the track.

Following 43 seconds later was sophomore James Weselcouch [East Haddam, Conn.], placing 97th with a time of 30:51. Weselcouch cut nearly three minutes (2:52) from his performance last year. Sophomore Brian Dagliere [North Haven, Conn.] followed suit posting an entire minute improvement over his performance last year, as he placed third for his team with a time of 32:03.

Sophomore Mike Stankus [Cropseyville, N.Y.] made a 36-second improvement over last year, as he became the fourth scoring Seahawk for and sophomore Grant Olsen [Bay Head, N.J.] improved by 14-seconds over last year as he completed the scoring for Salve Regina.

Other contributing teammates included freshman Michael Mascari [Bordentown, N.J.], sophomore Nick Albanese [Hopatcong, N.J.], and senior Dan Blake [Randolph, Mass.].
