NEWPORT, R.I. – The Eastern Nazarene College men's tennis team defeated Salve Regina University by a score of 7-2 during Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Seahawks to 2-13 (2-4 CCC), while the Lions improve to 11-6 (5-1 CCC).

The Lions began the day by taking two-of-three from the Seahawks in doubles play. Senior Zachary Rosenfeld (Easton, Conn.) paired-up with junior Aaron Isch (Tolland, Conn.) to earn a 9-7 win at No.1 doubles for Salve Regina, while the duos of Sam MacKay-Corkum (Rehobeth, Mass.)/Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Brandon Lum (Great Neck, N.Y./Nick Thompson (York, Pa.) earned victories at No.2 and No.3 doubles, respectively, for the Lions.

Eastern Nazarene sealed the match victory by capturing 5-of-6 points in singles action. Isch earned the lone point for the Seahawks, taking No.2 singles by scores of 6-4, 6-1. Junior Austin Steelman (Darlington, Md.) battled for a win over Rosenfeld at No.1 singles, 6-3, 4-6, 10-4. McKay-Corkum , Sam Son, Eric Johnson (Kingston, Mass.) and Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) also won singles' points for Eastern Nazarene.

The Lions will take to the courts again on Tuesday, traveling to face Roger Williams at 4 p.m., while the Seahawks will be back in action on Monday, hosting Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
