BIDDEFORD, Maine – Jordan Borges scored a hat trick to lead Salve Regina University past the University of New England, 3-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer season finale on a rainy Tuesday evening at UNE Blue Storm Stadium.

John Upton was able to boot away a potential goal in the 18th minute to keep the game scoreless early. Borges put the Seahawks on the board in the 22nd minute as he booted it past a rushing Ollie Hammond off a feed from Jacob Guerra. The score would remain 1-0 at the break.

Ethan David was able to wrestle the ball away from the UNE defender deep in the box and pass it out to Borges who finished to the left post for his second goal of the night in the 52nd minute.

The Nor'easters trimmed the deficit in half in the 78th minute. Upton had his shot saved at close range and Ethan Dispoto was there to clean up the rebound and break up the shutout.

A long pass from the back line by James Davies found Borges in front of the Nor'easter defense and he tapped in for his third of the game in the 84th minute.

Sean McCarthy (9) and Ollie Hammond (5) combined for 14 saves in the loss. The Seahawks outshot the Nor'easters 32-7 overall and 18-1 on goal.

Salve Regina (10-5-3, 5-2-2 CCC) captured the third seed in the conference and will host sixth-seed Curry in the quarterfinal round on Saturday. UNE end the year at 1-15-1 overall and 0-9-0 in league play.
