Summary
The Johnson & Wales University men's soccer team grabbed a 2-1 victory over Salve Regina University on senior day at Reynolds Field. Seniors Steven Aston, Nolan Brady, Evan Dudney, and Matthew Swartz were all honored with a pregame ceremony.

Series and Streaks
This was the 12th meeting between the two teams. The Seahakws own a 9-3 advantage in the all-time series however the Wildcats have won two in a row and three of the last four meetings.

Three Stars of the Match
1 – Johnson & Wales senior Xavier Carty (Mt. Vernon, N.Y.) - scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute.
2 – Salve Regina junior Jared Warren (Georgetown, Mass.) - scored the Seahawks only goal by finishing a cross from Aston in the 50th minute.
3 – Salve Regina sophomore Michael Payan (Fort Lee, N.J.) - stopped a season high 12 shots in the loss.

Turning Point
The game was tied 1-1 late in the second half when Riley McNichols (Hopkinton, N.H.) stopped a loose ball from rolling out of bounds over the goal line and with his back foot, crossed it in front of the Salve Regina net for Carty who finished it giving the Wildcats a 2-1 lead in the 78th minute.

Quick Hits

  • The Seahawks lone goal came off a free kick from Evan Dudney. Dudney's kick sailed to the far post where Aston headed it back in front of the goal. Jared Warren was waiting on the doorstep and redirected the ball into the back of the net to tie the game 1-1 early in the second half.
  • The Seahawks held an 8-4 advantage in corners but were outshot 20-18 in the game and the Wildcats put 15 of their shots on goal while only seven shots from the Seahawks were on goal.
  • Jon Robbins (Berkley Heights, N.J.) made five saves in net for the Wildcats while improving to 3-1-0 on the season.
