Seahawks and Friars kick-off 2021 home slate
NEWPORT, R.I. - Visiting Providence College defeated the Salve Regina University club men's rugby team 17-7 in preseason action Friday evening at Gaudet Field.
"Salve and Providence College have developed a friendly rivalry over the years, often competing in the finals against one another for the Rhode Island Cup," said assistant coach Joe Goff. "On this Fall Friday night, PC had a slight edge on Salve, winning three scores to one. Salve's score came from an exciting interception from Senior Garret Aube '22. There was no lack of physicality from either side, making it a fun match for the crowd that filled Gaudet's bleachers."
Salve Regina heads to Harvard on Saturday, September 18, for another preseason match before turning to conference play.
