Summary
NEWPORT, R.I. - After falling behind by one to start the fourth quarter the Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals to come back and defeat visiting Massachusetts Maritime Academy 16-10 in non-conference action at Toppa Field.

The Seahawks and Buccaneers have now split their only two meetings and the series is even 1-1 all-time.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Salve Regina junior Stephen McAllister (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored a career-high six goals, four in the fourth quarter, to lead the Seahawks scoring.
  2. Salve Regina sophomore Liam Cooney (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored a career-high five goals.
  3. Mass. Maritime sophomore Nick Lamattina (Groveland, Mass.) scored four times to lead the Buccaneers attack.

Turning Point
Mitchell Maida (Burlington, Mass.) scored to open the fourth quarter and give the Buccaneers a 10-9 lead. However, Brendan Laundry (Swampscott, Mass.) would score at 11:26 of the fourth to tie it, then the Seahawks would score six goals in just under four minutes to blow open the game at the end.

  • Ryan Chambers (Wakefield, Mass.) made 13 saves to improve to 2-3 in net.
  • Sean Lally (Marion, Mass.) made 20 saves for the Buccaneers and falls to 1-2 between the pipes.
