Summary
MIDDLETOWN, R.I. – Led by senior attack Conor Tracy (Walpole, Mass.) the Western New England University men's lacrosse team defeated Salve Regina University 16-5 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Bears remain undefeated, 16-0 lifetime, versus the Seahawks.

Three Stars of the Game

  1. Western New England senior Conor Tracy scored a team-high three goals and handed out an assist.
  2. Western New England junior Mike Bannon (Edmond, Okla.) also scored three times.
  3. Salve Regina senior Connor Cunningham (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) made a career-high 27 saves in the loss.

Turning Point
After only trailing by two at the half, Salve Regina was outscored by the Golden Bears 4-0 in the third quarter, and 7-2 in the final frame.

Senior Moment
Salve Regina honored their 12 seniors (Chris Sheehan, Pat Leary, Jake Paparozzi, A.J. Yarrow, Joe Grimm, Bailey Strangis, Ryan Heeter, Ethan Robson, Sean Ryder, Connor Cunningham, and Brendan Kelly) pregame with a special ceremony and a video tribute.

"The young men of the Class of 2021 are an extraordinary group," said head coach Pat Cooney.  "Throughout their college days they have helped the Salve Regina men's lacrosse team get better on and off the field. They love each other like family and have competed well. True student-athletes, they excel in all arenas. The entire coaching staff is proud to coach them and we look forward to hearing of all their future successes."

  • Pat Leary (Wakefield, Mass.) scored twice to become the program's all-time leader in goals scored, passing Andrew Fera '18. Leary now has 146 goals in his Seahawks career.
  • Sean McCusker (Northport, N.Y.) made 11 saves to earn the win for the Golden Bears to improve to 8-1 in net.
  • Western New England outshot Salve Regina 55-27.
