NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University men's lacrosse team returns to the field for the 2016 season on Saturday February 20, hosting Emmanuel College at 1 p.m. at Gaudet Field.

The Seahawks went 6-7 overall last season, qualifying for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs with a 4-4 record against conference foes and hosted Gordon College in the quarterfinal round.

The Seahawks start the season with six of seven at home, including four straight to begin the year. Following a road game with Clark University on March 16, the Seahawks will fly to Tampa, Fla., to play two games at the University of Tampa. The Seahawks will face Clarkson on March 19, and St. Lawrence on March 22 during that trip.

Head coach Patrick Cooney begins his 13th season at the helm of the Seahawks. Coach Cooney's 116 career wins as a head coach rank him just outside the top 40 in the country on the NCAA Division III Winningest Active Coaches list.  Cooney is the fifth head coach in Salve Regina's 18-year-old program.
