NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University men's lacrosse head coach Pat Cooney has announced senior attackman Chris Walker (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield High School), senior attackman Brendan Carroll (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City High School), and senior midfielder Kevin Murphy (Yorba Linda, Calif./Servite High School) as the Seahawks' team captains for the upcoming 2012 season.

"We are excited to have these three outstanding young men lead our ball-club on and off the field," says Coach Cooney.  "I am extremely proud of them as student-athletes and look forward to seeing firsthand their leadership skills this year. "

Walker, who will graduate this May with a degree in accounting, enters his senior year as the program's all-time leader in points (188), goals (137), and assists (66). The 2010 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Offensive Player of the Year and 2011 second team All-CCC attackman hopes to keep his successful career rolling and graduate as one of Salve Regina's most dominant players in the programs 15 years of NCAA play. Last season, he led the SRU attack unit with 61 points, including 49 goals and 12 assists. "Walker's level of experience and tenacity are what makes him an exceptional team captain."

Carroll is working toward his degree in business administration, while his smart and decisive play has helped the Seahawks offense over the last three years.  Brendan begins his senior year currently ranked eighth on Salve Regina's career points list with 109 points on 73 goals and 36 assists. His game is well rounded in every aspect; whether it is dodging, shooting, or feeding.  In 2011, he compiled 47 points (27g, 20a) complementing Walker on the SRU attack unit. "Brendan's strong lacrosse IQ, heart, and determination will be key factors in Salve Regina's success this year."

Murphy will earn his degree in history this spring, and is the team's fastest midfielder between the lines, gaining more playing time every year. He now finds himself as one of the team's most called upon positional players. As Coach Cooney says, "Whether it's offensive middie, D-middie, on the wings, or man down; Kevin does it all. He is one of the more vocal leaders of the Seahawks and always leads by example."

The Seahawks finished with a 9-8 record last year, and will open their 2012 season on March 3 at home versus Salem State at 1 p.m. (Gaudet Field).
