SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS

Trio of Seahawks honored by ECAC

CAPE COD, Mass. - Salve Regina University graduate student Nick Clark (Rye, N.Y.), senior Nate Burns (Sandwich, Mass.), and sophomore Chris Walker (Marshfield, Mass.) have been named to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star Team. Walker and Clark were selected to the Second Team while Burns earned Third Team honors.

Walker (right) led the Seahawks and The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) in goals (51) and points (76), and also led SRU and tied for fifth in the conference with 25 assists. During the regular season, he tallied 47 points (34-13-47) against TCCC foes, and his season-high of nine points (6-3-9) against Wentworth on March 20 tied for the highest TCCC single-game point total this season. Walker also recorded 54 ground balls, six man-up goals, and three game-winning goals.

Clark, meanwhile, earned First Team All-TCCC honors for the third time in his career (2007, 2008) in 2010, a year after missing all but one game due to injury. He finished second to Burns with 72 ground balls and sits No. 2 all-time at SRU with 253. Offensively, he chipped in with five points (3-2-5) and notched a goal and an assist against Wentworth (March 20) and Curry (April 16). Clark gathered a season-high nine ground balls against Roger Williams (April 7). Earlier this week, he was selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-America Team.

Burns led the Seahawks with 82 ground balls (55 in conference play) and proved to be as solid a presence on defense for head coach Patrick Cooney as he was as a member of the men's ice hockey team this past winter. He collected a season-high 10 ground balls at Roger Williams on April 7, and picked up his only point of the season - an assist - in a win over Anna Maria on April 10.

In total, 11 student-athletes from TCCC received ECAC honors, including Endicott goalkeeper Eric Hagerty and specialist Chris Cotter, Gordon defenders Stuart Knechtle and Dan Utz, Western New England attack Tim Santye and specialist Nick Zaleski, Roger Williams attack Drew Smith, and New England College midfielder Matt Vozzolo. Hagerty was also named ECAC Defensive Player of the Year.

The Seahawks finished the season 9-8 and qualified for the conference playoffs as the No. 5 seed, where they suffered a 12-11 loss to No. 4 Roger Williams in the quarterfinals.
