Summary
The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team scored three unanswered goals spanning the second and third period to defeat visiting Suffolk University 5-1 in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup.

Series and Streaks
The Seahawks own a 14-11-3 record in the all-time series and have won three straight over the Rams. The Seahawks have outscored the Rams 16-1 in the last three meetings.

Three Stars of the Game

1. Salve Regina junior Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) made 31 saves to earn his third victory between the pipes.
2. Salve Regina senior Colin Clapton (Canton, Mass.) scored twice in the second period.
3. Salve Regina sophomore Jack Billings (Oak Lawn, Ill.) scored from an improbable angle in the first period to give the Seahawks a 2-0 lead. His goal proved to be the game-winner.

Turning Point
After trailing 2-0 for most of the first period the Rams converted a powerplay 1:07 left in the period to cut the Seahawks lead to one goal. The Rams carried momentum in the second period, but Colin Clapton quickly tilted the ice back in Salve Regina's favor. Clapton received a pass in the slot off a Ram's turnover and all alone he fired a wrister home to make it 3-1. Later Clapton carried the puck down the left side and snapped a shot from out wide that had eyes for the back of the net, giving the Seahawks a 4-1.

Quick Hits

• The Rams lone goal came from Brendan Heinze (Danville, N.H.) on the power-play late in the first period. After Wojtala had to sprawl to make to saves, Heinze muscled his way in and back handed a rebound shot that kicked out of the net as it was being knocked off its pegs and the officials decided to confer to decide whether or not to allow the goal. After a brief conference, the sign was given for a good goal and the Rams had found their way onto the board. It was the first goal the Rams have scored against the Seahawks since January 23, 2016.
• The teams were even with 32 shots apiece while the Seahawks went 0-for-5 on the power-play and the Rams went 1-for-4 with the man advantage.
• After being outshot 18-7 in the first, the Rams outshot the Seahawks in both the second and third periods, but could not crack Blake Wojtala.
• Michael Levine (Claredon Hill, Ill.) started in net for the Rams and was pulled after allowing two goals in the first. Will Rabas (Westwood, Mass.) reaplced him and made 18 saves in 40:12 of action before Levine returned for the final 10:44 of the third period. Levine took the loss while making nine saves to fall to 1-2 on the season.
