Seahawks shutout Rams 5-0

HARLESTOWN, Mass. --  Sophomore Shaun Patry (Penfield, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals and an assist, while fellow sophomore Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) stopped all 18 shots he faced in goal to lead Salve Regina to a 5-0 Commonwealth Coast Conference men's ice hockey victory over Suffolk Thursday evening at O'Neil Rink.

Wojtala, in just his sophomore season, now has six career shutouts, the most in Salve Regina program history. He had shared the previous record of five career shutouts with senior teammate Alexander Devine (Hampton, N.H.).

Patry gave the visiting Seahawks (11-5-2, 8-2-1 Commonwealth Coast) the only goal they would need just 1:43 into the contest, and Salve Regina took control of the game with four tallies in the final 7:10 of the middle stanza that featured markers from Patry and freshmanJack Billings (Oak Lawn, Ill.) in a 21 second span.  Seniors Jonathan Felteau (Peabody, Mass.) and Tommy Evangelista (Methuen, Mass.) also scored in that second period flourish for the visitors, and Wojtala took care of the rest in net for the Seahawks to earn his second shutout triumph of the season over the host Rams (4-9-4, 2-7-2 Commonwealth Coast), whom he also blanked by a 6-0 margin back on November 5th.

Evangelista added an assist to his goal to finish with two points in the win for Salve Regina, which also received a pair of helpers from junior Evan Schmidbauer (San Diego, Calif.) and single assists off the sticks of sophomore Kevin Clare (Chicago, Ill.) and freshman Chase Hatcher (Marine City, Mich.).  Senior Kevin Venturoso (Franklin, Mass.) made 22 saves over the first two periods of play between the pipes for Suffolk, which also received 10 stops from sophomore Michael Levine (Clarendon Hills, Ill.) over the final 20 minutes of action.  The Seahawks outshot the Rams by a 37-18 margin for the evening, including a 27-14 advantage over the first two periods alone.

Suffolk hosts Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast Conference clash on Saturday evening at O'Neil Rink that faces off at 7:30 p.m., while Salve Regina entertains Endicott in a Commonwealth Coast Conference outing on Saturday evening in Newport, R.I. that begins at 7:00 p.m.
