NEWPORT, R.I. – The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team has been ranked in a national poll for the first time in program history.

Salve Regina was ranked 14th in the nation in the latest USCHO poll. The Seahawks have received votes for the poll in recent seasons, but had never made it into a ranked spot.

"It's nice for the guys to get rewarded for their start to the season, however we are focused on being great every day and staying humble and hungry so we can continue to grow as a team," said head coach Andy Boschetto.

The Seahawks (6-1-1, 5-0-1 CCC) return to action this Wednesday when they host Wentworth in a Commonwealth Coast Conference matchup at 7 p.m.
