Summary
The Salve Regina University men's ice hockey team earned a 6-0 shutout over Suffolk University at the Portsmouth Abbey Saturday in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

1 – Salve Regina sophomore Blake Wojtala (Trenton, Mich.) - made 32 saves in the shutout, the fifth of his career, tying a program record held by teammate Alexander Devine (Hampton, N.H.).
2 – Salve Regina junior Pat Thompson (Hellertown, Pa.) - scored two goals.
3 – Salve Regina freshman Jack Billings (Oak Lawn, Ill.) - had a goal and an assist. Billings currently leads the Seahawks in points on the season (6).

Key Stat of the Game
The Seahawks held the Rams to 0-5 on the powerplay. Salve Regina has now killed off 26 of 27 penalties this season.

Turning Point
Pat Thompson scored his second goal of the game quickly followed by Nick Cyr's (Mount Laurel, N.J.) first of the season to break open the game in the second period. Those scores at 17:46 and 18:16 made it 5-0 Salve Regina.

Quick Hits

  • Freshman Connor Bechtel (Dowlyestown, Pa.) scored the first goal of his career in the third period.
  • Kevin Venturoso (Franklin, Mass.) took the loss in net, making 17 saves before he was replaced by Will Ribas (Westwood, Mass.) who stopped 11 shots in the third period.
  • The Seahawks next travel to face Endicott College on November 10 in a rematch of last season's ECAC Northeast Championship game. The Seahawks won that game 4-0 in Beverly, Mass on March 5, 2016.
