MARLBOROUGH, MASS. – Junior John Scorcia (Hudson, Fla.) moved into fourth place on the Salve Regina men's ice hockey scoring list with a pair of goals and an assist as the Seahawks defeated Becker, 6-1, in ECAC Northeast action Wednesday night. With the win, Salve Regina improves to 9-13 on the season and 7-4 in the conference while the Hawks slip to 2-15-3 on the year and 1-6-3 in the league.

Scorcia's three points, including the game-winning goal in the second period, pushed his career total to 77 points, fourth all-time at Salve Regina.

The Seahawks took an early 1-0 lead off Scorcia's first goal of the when the junior collected a rebound of a shot from sophomore Marc Biggs (Plano, Texas) just over four minutes into action. Scorcia gave the Seahawks a 2-0 lead 8:24 into the second period, this time getting an assist from Biggs and sophomore Alec Butler (Marlborough, Mass.).  

After a relatively quiet rest of the second period, Salve Regina exploded for four goals in the final stanza to seal the conference win. Butler notched his first goal of the season quickly into the third period off assists from Scorcia and sophomore Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn.) to give Salve Regina 3-0 lead. Freshman Parker Bowen (Pembroke, Mass.) got in on the scoring action at 10:11 as he sent home his fifth of the season off helpers from classmates Jonathan Felteau (Peabody, Mass.) and Trace Redmond (Dallas, Texas). Exactly one minute later, junior Michael Naso (Londonberry, N.H.) netted his ninth of the year to give the Seahawks a 5-0 lead.

Becker's lone goal of the game came at 15:22 of the third period when freshman Conner Merrick (Manchester, N.H.) scored his first collegiate goal on a power play. GIntoli wrapped up the scoring flurry with his eighth of the season off assists from Butler and Biggs.

Sophomore David Chiokadze (Langhorne, Pa.) made 34 stops in the net for his third win of the season for Salve Regina while sophomore Greg Hussey (Medford, Mass.) had 26 saves in the loss for the Becker.

Both teams are back in ECAC action on Saturday, February 15. Becker will host Wentworth at 12:50 p.m., while the Seahawks welcome Nichols College at 7:05 p.m.
