Seahawks fall to Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan (Conn.) used three first period goals to defeat the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Seahawks slip to 6-3 on the season while the Cardinals improve to 4-2-1 on the season.

Freshman James Kline (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore Alex Carlacci (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals on powerplays for the Cardinals to put Wesleyan up 2-0 7:02 into action. Junior Connor Ryan (Greenwood, Minn.) netted the game-winner for the Cardinals at the 14:43 mark on a shorthanded goal off assists from sophomore Terence Durkin (Scituate, Mass.) and freshman Robby Harbison (Pittsburgh, Pa.). 

On their first power play chance of the second period, senior William Gomolinski (Western Spring, Ill.) got the Seahawks on the board with his first goal of the season 2:25 into the period. 

The Cardinals added two more goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead of two full periods. Sophomore Jaren Taenaka (Rosemead, Calif.) put the game away for the Cardinals with his second goal of the season at the 15:12 mark in the third period. Freshman Jonathan Felteau (Peabody, Mass.) scored the game's final goal for the Seahawks with 3:53 to play off an assist from sophomore Peter Gintoli (Monroe, Conn.).

Junior Jake Williams (Montreal, Canada) took the loss in the net for the Seahawks, making 14 saves in 14:43 minutes of action. Sophomore David Chiokadze (Langhorne, Pa.) finished the game in the net, making 26 saves in the final 45:17 minutes. 

The Seahawks return to the ice when they travel to Neumann on Friday, Dec. 6 for a 5:30 p.m. start.
