Bowen named ECAC Rookie of the Week

Parker Bowen earned his first ECAC weekly award for the Seahawks to open the 2013-14 season.

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Freshman Parker Bowen (Pembroke, Mass.) helped the Salve Regina men's ice hockey team to a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce to open the season and was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast Rookie of the Week.

Bowen scored his first collegiate goal to tie the game late in the second period.

Salve Regina opened its 2013-14 schedule with a 3-2 win over Franklin Pierce. After trailing 1-0 after the first period, the Seahawks scored three-straight goals to take a 3-1 lead. A solid defensive effort in the final minutes of regulation gave Salve Regina the 3-2 victory.

Sophomore Marc Biggs (Dallas, Texas) picked up right where he left off last year with two points, a goal and an assist on the game-winning goal, to earn a spot on the weekly honor roll.

Salve Regina returns to the ice when the Seahawks host Stonehill at the Portsmouth Abbey Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m.
