Pawtucket, R.I. – The Salve Regina University men's hockey team fell to host Johnson & Wales University in an ECAC Northeast contest at The Lynch Arena/Blackstone Valley Sports Center on Saturday evening.

Junior Matt Cooper (Perrysburg, Ohio) posted his second shutout of the season, making 30 saves for JWU while junior Mike McDonald (Whitby, Ontario) had 30 stops in the loss for Salve Regina.

Senior All-American Jeremiah Ketts (Foristell, Mo.) led the way for Johnson & Wales with two goals and two assists while junior Danny Kaufmann (Scotch Plains, N.J.) also had a pair of goals and two assists in the victory for the Wildcats

Kaufmann got the JWU on the board just :11 into the game with what would prove to be the game-winning goal.  Ketts then scored on a power play with a pass from junior Trevor Jewell (Belgrade, Mont.) and senior Domenic Recchia (Sterling Heights, Mich.) at the 2:04 mark to give the Wildcats the early two goal advantage.  JWU took the 2-0 lead into the locker room at the first intermission.

The Wildcats extended their lead to 3-0 on Kaufmann's second goal of the game just 1:58 into the second stanza.  Junior Jason Pietrasiak (Shrewsbury, Mass.) then put the Wildcats up 4-0 with assists to Kaufmann and Recchia at the 5:52 mark, again on a power play.  Sophomore Guillaume Cyr (Quebec City, Quebec) closed out the scoring for the stanza at the 9:41 mark to send the Wildcats into the locker room with a 5-0 advantage after two periods of play.

It was more of the same in the third period as Ketts' second goal of the game, a power play tally at the 5:42 mark, made the score 6-0.  The Wildcats capped off the scoring for the evening on junior Max Carter's (Royal Oak, Mich.) first goal of the season at the 8:02 mark as the squad cruised to the 7-0 victory.

With the win Johnson & Wales is now 6-1-1 for the year and remains undefeated in the ECAC Northeast with a 3-0-1 mark in conference action while Salve Regina falls to 3-6 on the year, 1-4 in league play.  The Wildcats will return to action on Friday, December 9th when they travel to Fredonia for a non-conference contest at 7:00 p.m.
