Seahawks soon to tip off as members of the NEWMAC

Clay Brochu will provide senior experience for the Seahawks in 2023-24.

NEWPORT, R.I.Salve Regina University men's basketball head coach Sean Foster '97 has released the 2023-24 schedule which tips off on Saturday, November 11, against Johnson & Wales University at the Rodgers Recreation Center

The regular season includes 25 games, and as a member of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, the team will have 16 NEWMAC matchups. The Autism Acceptance Classic hosted by Curry College on November 17-18, reunites the Seahawks with two former CCC foes in the Colonels and the Pride of Regis College.

After their season-opener at home against the Wildcats, the Seahawks travel to UMass Boston to face the Beacons for their first road contest in 2023-24. Salve Regina returns home on December 2 after six straight games away from the Rodgers Recreation Center. All four games in December are home for the Seahawks, marking their longest home stand. As the newest member of the NEWMAC, the Seahawks will also face Wheaton College twice this season featuring a matchup of junior Declan Walmsley (Franklin, Mass.) against his father, Brian Walmsley, who is head coach of the Lyons. Two former charter members of the CCC, Salve Regina and Coast Guard will also meet twice as fellow NEWMAC members.

The Seahawks finished the 2022-23 season with a 9-17 overall record and a 7-11 conference record. The team exited the CCC in their final year in the league with a first-round loss at Western New England College.
