Beacons spoil Seahawks home opener

NEWPORT, R.I. - Led by an 19-point, 11-rebound effort from senior Malik Lorquet the visiting UMass Boston men's basketball team defeated Salve Regina University 72-59 in non-conference action Tuesday evening.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • Lorquet led all scorers and added three blocks, two assists, and a steal to his point and rebound totals.
  • The Beacons had four players in double-figures.
  • Mikey Spencer led the Seahawks scoring with 17 points in a 6-13 shooting. 
  • Clay Brochu gave the Seahawks 14 points off the bench.
  • Ryan St. Clair had a career-high 11 rebounds for the Seahawks, tying Lorquet for the game lead.

Salve Regina travels to face Fisher in another non-conference matchup on Saturday, November 19.
