NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior guard Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) earns a spot on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball all-conference second team in voting released by the league's coaches at the end of the regular season.

"Our staff is pleased to see Rodney Morton recognized again as a top performer in the CCC," says 16th-year head coach Sean Foster. "He has had an excellent year for our group on the court, however his most valuable contribution comes in the example he has set in representing himself and our program with class on and off the court."

Morton earns his second straight selection to the all-conference team and his next game on Tuesday in the CCC postseason will be the 100th of his Seahawk career. He leads the team with 20.5 points per game, and ranks fifth in the league in that category. Earlier this season, he became the 19th player in men's basketball history at Salve Regina to reach 1,000 career points; he now ranks fifth all-time in scoring just 22 point behind fourth all-time, Matt Coute '06 (1,365 to 1,343). Morton has scored 497 points this season which ranks seventh-most all-time for a single-season at Salve Regina.

He is posting career highs in points, scoring average, rebounds (78), assists (38), and steals (38).

Salve Regina (10-15, 7-11 CCC) earned the No. 7 seed and will play at No. 2 seed Gordon College on Tuesday in Wenham, Mass. (7 p.m.).
