Four second-half tallies lift Seahawks to road win

NEWTON, Mass. (September 13, 2022) -- The Salve Regina University field hockey team scored all four of its goals in the second half and blanked Lasell University, 4-0, in non-league action at Grellier Field. The loss drops the Lasers to 2-2 on the season and the win moves Salve to 2-2 on the year.

NOTEWORTHY:

  • The two teams were scoreless in the first half with the visitors outshooting the Lasers 11-7.
  • Salve Regina got on the board at the 42:05 mark when junior forward Shannon Kennedy was able to push one into the back of the net.
  • Senior defender Kailyn McCue added to the Seahawks lead with her goal at the 50:29 mark and freshman Georgia Costello added two goals at the 51:46 and 56:50 mark, to close out the scoring for the visitors.
  • Goalie Courtney Tello made 24 saves in the contest for the Lasers and Casey Febus had 10 saves for the Seahawks.

Salve Regina opens its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) slate on Saturday when it hosts Gordon College on Gaudet Field at noon.
