MIDDLETOWN, R.I. (October 16, 2021) - Salve Regina University field hockey seniors Lex Purcell (Cheshire, Conn.) and Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.) both scored goals on Senior Day for the Seahawks, but visiting Husson University took a 3-2 decision at Gaudet Field in the non-league meeting.

After a three-game road trip, Seahawk field hockey returned home to celebrate its eight seniors - Hannah Bedrosian, Olivia Butler, Abby Dubuc, Sam Levey, Grace Parker, Lex Purcell, Eliza Timms, Kristen Wales.

Eagles' junior Adele Foss (Farmington, Maine) put her team on the board first five minutes into the game with her team-leading 10th goal of the season.

In the second quarter, Salve Regina (8-5) got the equalizer in the 16th minute with Purcell's first tally of the season. The team's went into the halftime break tied at 1-1.

Timms added her team-best 16th goal of the year three minutes into the third quarter for a 2-1 Seahawk lead. Before the period was over, senior Ryley Newcomb (Barre, Mass.) knotted the score at 2-all with her first goal of 2021.

Foss netted the game-winner in the 51st minute. Husson (4-5) dominated in penalty corner chances, 11-4, and had 10 shots to just four (one per period) for Salve Regina.

Husson plays at UMaine Farmington on Tuesday, October 19, at 3:30 p.m. Salve Regina will host Roger Williams University next Saturday (October 23) at Gaudet Field (12 p.m.).
