NEWPORT, R.I. - The Salve Regina University field hockey team has been announced as a recipient of the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III National Academic Team Award, while nine Seahawk players were named to the 2018 NFHCA Academic Squad, including sophomore Taylor Bulis (Lakeville, Mass.), junior Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.), freshman Abigail Dubuc (Burlington, Vt.), junior Hannah Filiault (Keene, N.H.), sophomore Ciara Labbe (Chichester, N.H.), freshman Samantha Levey (North Andover, Mass.), junior Natalie Reid (South Dennis, Mass.), freshman Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.), and freshman Kristen Wales (Southport, Conn.). This marks the 12th consecutive year that the Salve Regina field hockey team has earned this honor.

"To be recognized for the 12th year in a row for the team academic award is a great accomplishment for our program," said Salve Regina head coach Jennifer Foster. "It shows our team's continued focus and commitment to being student-athletes. Our players, who study a variety of majors, do a wonderful job of balancing their academic and athletic commitments."

In order to be eligible for the individual honors, student-athletes are required to achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

To be recognized for the academic team award, field hockey clubs must compile a combined GPA of at least 3.00 or better during the first semester of the 2018-19 academic year.

Salve Regina was among 131 Division III schools to receive the honor, joining five other schools representing the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).
