NEWPORT, R.I. - A second-straight year that a Cody has re-written the Seahawk field hockey record books leads to back-to-back seasons of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) coaches voting Cody with Offensive Player of the Year honor. Congratulations to Salve Regina University junior forward Ashley Cody (Pawling, N.Y.) who earns the honor this season, one year after her sister, Amber Cody '18, did likewise in 2017. Cody is joined on the All-CCC squad by junior midfielder Hannah Filiault amd freshman forward Eliza Timms (Agawam, Mass.).

Cody's numbers speak for themselves. She is currently the NCAA Division III leader in scoring averaging 1.94 goals per game. Her 4.50 points per game are also the best in the division. She currently has 35 goals and 11 assists for 81 points. Her goals have been timely as well with a league-leading five game-winners. She registered at least a point in every contest except one so far. Cody also had two double-digit point performances with 10 points against Salem State and 11 points against Johnson and Wales. She was named CCC Offensive Player of the Week in the Week ending Oct. 14.

Filiault earns her second-straight nod to the All-CCC squad. In 2018 she has one goal and three assists for five points, raising her career totals to two goals and six assists. Her one goal this season gave the Seahawks their first win of 2018 in overtime against Thomas College on Sept. 9.

Timms ranks second on the team and fifth in the conference in goals (16), second on the team and third in the conference in points (41). Her 41 points are the most ever for a Seahawk freshman; Whitney Bushee '07 still holds the mark for most goals by a Salve Regina freshman (18 in 2004).

Jennifer Foster, Salve Regina head coach in her 13th season, comments on her all-conference performers:

  • "Ashley has undoubtedly had a very successful year on offense. She came up big for us in many games and continues to grow as a player. It is exciting to know she has her senior year ahead of her."
  • "Hannah has been a consistent player for us in the midfield all year. She steps well to the ball and is a smart passer. We can rely on her to support our offensive transition and defensive recovery."
  • "Eliza has been a pleasant surprise this season. She stepped into a starting role and with her speed and scrappiness in the circle she has been a great compliment to Ashley Cody."

Salve Regina (9-9, 5-7 CCC) earned the No. 4 seed in the conference postseason and will host No. 5 seed Roger Williams University Tuesday night at Gaudet Field in Middletown (6 p.m.).
