BIDDEFORD, Maine – The University of New England scored 20 unanswered points to start the game on its way to a 30-12 victory over Salve Regina University in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup at Blue Storm Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

UNE began the afternoon with a 36-yard kickoff return by Shane LaPorte. He then caught at 12-yard pass for Jarrett Henault to begin the drive. Two more big plays, a 19-yard rush by Jack Mahoney and 14-yard catch by Jack Piller put the Nor'easters deep in Seahawk territory. The drive stalled on the four-yard line but Robert Inniss was able to make a 21-yard field goal to give UNE a 3-0 lead early.

Both offenses struggled to put points on the board throughout the remainder of the first quarter. The Nor'easter defense was able to stop Salve Regina on two fourth down attempts to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.

Henault had a 16-yard rush and two plays later found LaPorte with a 23-yard pass to put UNE in the Seahawk end of the field. The Nor'easter offense continued to easily move the ball as Mahoney took a 14-yard rush to the three-yard line. After a penalty forced UNE back, Henault hit AJ DeFilio for a touchdown to put the Nor'easters ahead 10-0 with 10:07 to play in the half.

After another three-and-out by the Seahawks, Inniss nailed a 41-yard field goal to extend the UNE lead. Henault and DeFilio connected again for a 38-yard touchdown on the next Nor'easter possession to make the score 20-0 with 2:22 remaining. Joey Mauriello ran in from eight yards out for a Salve Regina touchdown, but Ryan Turner blocked the extra point attempt to keep the score at 20-6 heading into halftime.

Inniss put his third kick of the day through the uprights from 31-yards away with 5:11 to play in the third quarter to make it 23-6 in favor of UNE and the score would remain until the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Todd Cravedi hauled in a 31-yard catch down to the Salve Regina 24-yard line late in the game to setup the final Nor'easters touchdown drive. Mahoney ran it in from a yard away as UNE pulled ahead 30-6 late. Jake Stack found Hayden Hulme for a 17-yard touchdown pass in the final minute for Salve Regina.

Henault finished with 19-of-29 passing for 287 yards and two touchdowns. Mahoney had 93 yards on the ground and a score. DeFilio had just four catches, but two for scores and 81 yards. LaPorte caught five balls for 71 yards. Cravedi added two grabs for 52 yards.

Stack was just 14-of-31 through the air for 188 yards and touchdown. Mauriello had 131 rushing yards. Hulme led the receivers with three catches for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Will Peters was a menace in the backfield with three sacks and seven total tackles. Nick Lombard had 10 tackles (nine solo) to lead UNE. Inniss was 6-for-6 on kicks with three field goals and three extra points.

Garrett McCarthy and John Zingaro each had nine tackles for Salve Regina. Zach Letellier and Zack Catarius had a sack each.
