NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University football welcomes Commonwealth Coast Football Conference member Curry College to Newport, R.I, for Senior Day.

SENIOR MOMENT
The Seahawks will honor their seniors before the game with a special ceremony on the field. The players will be joined by family and friends at midfield to honor their four seasons at Salve Regina. The ceremony will be streamed live, so tune in early (11:40 a.m.) to catch the festivities.

SEAHAWKS NOTES FROM THE NEST

  • Joey Mauriello is 149 yards shy of setting a new program record for yards in a single season. The current record is held by Sam Pascale (1482 yards; 2015)
  • Mauriello already has set a new program record for rushing touchdowns in a single season with 20 currently.
  • Kicker Angelo DiSanto is two fieldgoals shy of setting a new single season record for made field goals.
  • A trio of Seahawks - Drew Balestrieri, Nicholas Poillucci, Michael Saunders - will lead the 2019 squad as captains.
  • The Seahawks play their fifth game of the year at Toppa Field in 2019.
  • Last season, Salve Regina went 3-2 at home and averaged 28.0 points per game on the renovated turf.
  • Salve Regina won 31 of its first 33 games at Toppa.
  • The Seahawks are averaging 26.75 points per game on the Toppa turf this year, and seek their second home win of the season.

COLONELS NEWS 

  • The Curry football team lost a high-scoring contest to visiting Commonwealth Coast Football (CCC Football) opponent Nichols College on Saturday afternoon, 56-42, at Walter M. Katz Field on Senior Day.
  • The Colonels' offense was led by Juvelier, who completed 26-of-42 passes for 289 yards, five touchdowns, and two Interceptions.
  • Levy paced the Curry backfield with 150 yards on 12 rushing attempts and one touchdown.
  • Senior Nick Villanueva (Hanson, Mass.) pitched in six receptions for 78 yards to guide the receivers.
  • On the defensive side, Curry was led by freshman Trevin Stephens (West Palm Beach, Fla.), who made a season-high nine tackles (eight solo, one assisted).

INSIDE THE SERIES
Salve Regina has won eight of the last nine matchups with the Colonels and are 17-9 versus them all-time. However the Colonels last win in the series came on Toppa Field in 2017. The Colonels defeated the Seahawks 37-20 behind five touchdown passes from senior quarterback Alex Corvese and sophomore (now senior) reciever Nick Villanueva caught six passes for 90 yards and three scores.
