NEWPORT, R.I. (Monday, April 19, 2021) - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University junior Zach Lopez (New Canaan, Conn.) as its Pitcher of the Week for baseball (April 12-18).

CCC Pitcher of the Week - Lopez was a force as both a starter and as a reliever, posting a 1-0 record with one save and a spotless 0.00 ERA in two appearances against Suffolk and Roger Williams. In six shutout innings of work, the stingy Lopez scattered five hits, struck out four, and walked just one. He started and tossed three scoreless innings in a 6-1 win over Suffolk, and then hurled three scoreless innings out of the bullpen in an 11-6 win over Roger Williams four days later.

Seahawk head coach Eric Cirella '05 on Lopez: "Zach was nails for us all week. He was extremely efficient in a midweek start vs Suffolk and then came out of pen in a big spot Sunday versus Roger Williams, and really competed well in a must-win game. He's one of three or four guys who is in a much different role this year with a shortened season/fewer games. Typically, he's a starter for us but with a four-game weekend, he's transitioned into a big part of our bullpen. He's really been able to shorten games and take a load off our starters. Overall, I couldn't be happier for him and I know his teammates are as well."

Salve Regina (10-3-1; 7-2-1 CCC) hosts Roger Williams on Wednesday afternoon in a non-league nine-inning game at Reynolds Field.
