NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Patrick Maybach (Saunderstown, R.I.) as its Pitcher of the Week for baseball (Feb. 26 - Mar. 4).

CCC Pitcher of the Week: Maybach was dominant in a 6-0 victory over Framingham State in the season opener. Last year's CCC Rookie of the Year tossed seven shutout innings and struck out a career-high 15 batters while allowing just three singles and three walks. With the win, Maybach improved to 10-0 for his career, including a 9-0 mark as a starting pitcher.

Salve Regina head coach Eric Cirella on Maybach: "Pat was his usual dominant self on Sunday. He was a little anxious to start, but once he settled in he was outstanding, even electric at times. He had four pitches working and even showed a velocity jump as the game went on into the middle and later innings. He had more swing-and-misses than I think I have ever seen at this level. Overall, I was really happy with the performance, but Pat knows he has some work to do to keep improving to get ready for Florida and then CCC play in late March."

The Seahawks fly to Florida on Wednesday before opening a nine-game schedule against Rowan University on Friday at Henley Field in Lakeland (3 p.m.) as participants in the RussMatt Invitational.
