NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University sophomore Alex Perry (No. Dartmouth, Mass.) as its Player of the Week for baseball (April 4-10).

Rookie of the Week – Perry helped his team to a 4-1-1 week including a 3-1 showing in conference play. Perry recorded a hit in each of the Seahawks' games this week and scored in all but one. The sophomore also had four multi-hit performances, two of which came during a conference doubleheader against Nichols in which Perry was not retired in seven at-bats. This week, Perry batted .565 with three doubles and a home run. He also scored seven runs, drove in six, and stole two bases.

"I'm amazed at what Alex is able to do offensively most days," said Seahawk third-year head coach Eric Cirella. "He just has a knack for getting hits, especially in clutch spots, and driving in runs. The scary thing is he isn't even at his best and hasn't been yet this season, but you would have no idea by looking at the stats. He is also doing a much better job on the bases and defensively at first base. I think he is a more complete player than he was a season ago. Regardless, he is one of the top offensive threats in the region and he continues to produce in tough spots."

Salve Regina (9-8-1; 3-1 CCC) starting pitchers performed well, too, with Billy Humes (East Rockaway, N.Y.) throwing a complete-game shutout on Saturday followed by a combined 19 strikeouts from Tommy Seaver (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Frank Lemieux (Marshfield, Mass.) on Sunday.

The Seahawks have won all three baseball awards this season: Player (John Militano - March 28; Alex Perry - April 11), Pitcher (Cory Poplawski - March 28), and Rookie (Colton Eremian - April 4; Zack Smith - April 11).
