NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) baseball coaches have voted Salve Regina University freshman Alex Perry (No. Attleboro, Mass.) as the league's 2015 Player and Rookie of the Year, a first for one person to grab both awards in the same season. Perry joins teammates Joe Haley (No. Kingstown, R.I.)Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.)David Neil(Randolph, Mass.), and Kyle Pheland (No. Scituate, R.I.) on the All-CCC squad.

Salve Regina enters the conference championships as the sixth seed and travel to top-seeded Endicott College on Thursday (4 p.m.) for the first game in the double-elimination tournament.

Perry has made an immediate impact leading a Seahawk lineup that sports the CCC's highest batting average (.302) and has produced the most runs (218). Currently, Perry, who has hit safely in 28 of 30 games this season, is in position to win the CCC's Triple Crown, as he leads all conference players in batting average (.439), home runs (10) and runs batted in (49). In CCC regular-season play, Perry also leads the league with a .561 batting average, five home runs and 18 RBI. In the most recent NCAA Division III national weekly statistics, Perry ranks ninth in in the nation in RBI per game (1.46), 10th in home runs per game (0.31), 13th in slugging percentage (.789), 18th in home runs and 52nd in batting average. He was recognized as CCC Player of the Week twice.
