NEWPORT, R.I. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) has selected Salve Regina University freshman Alex Perry (No. Attleboro, Mass.) as its player of the week for baseball (April 20-26).

Player of the Week - Perry batted .429 (9-for-21) with three home runs and 14 RBI as the Seahawks posted a 5-0 weekly record and ran their winning streak to eight games heading into the final regular-season games before the CCC Tournament opens on Thursday.  Perry hit safely in all five games, collecting two hits and slugging a home run in single-game wins over Curry (8-1), Johnson & Wales (4-3) and Brandeis (14-7).  Perry notched three RBI in the win over Curry and registered four RBI in both of the wins over Johnson & Wales and Brandeis.  He added three hits and three RBI in a doubleheader sweep at Nichols.

Perry's head coach Eric Cirella: "What can I say about Alex Perry right now? His offensive production has been astounding. He has got to be one of the hottest hitters in the country. Incredibly enough, he is driving the ball out of the park from foul pole to foul pole, and probably has the same amount of opposite field home runs as he has pull side. He is locked in at the plate and I hope he can continue this trend into the CCC playoffs. He is having one of the best freshman campaigns I have ever seen in a decade of coaching college baseball."

The weekly honor is the second for Perry this season (also earned player and rookie of the week on April 13).

The Seahawks (20-14) finish their regular-season schedule with a home game against Bridgewater State University on Monday, before traveling to Suffolk University on Tuesday. Salve Regina will enter the double-elimination CCC Baseball Championships on Thursday as the sixth seed, and plays at top-seeded Endicott at 4 p.m.
