NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University junior catcher Dominic Di Sano (Central Falls, R.I.) earned a selection to the 2013 NEIBA Division III All New England first team.

Di Sano, also a first team honoree on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) all-league team, represents the conference as its only non-pitching selection to the first team New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association squad.

Di Sano stands out among all catchers in the region. He combines his defensive duties and handling of the Seahawk pitching staff with a productive offensive game. He ranks seventh in the league in RBI (34) while batting .354 with 13 doubles, one triple, and three home runs. His .538 slugging percentage tops all Seahawks while ranking fourth in the conference.

After winning its first two games in the conference championships, Salve Regina ended its 2013 season with back-to-back defeats to NCAA participants (Western New England and 2013 champion Endicott). The Seahawks finished with their second-most victories in a single season (29-12) while a 10-game win streak from April 13-22 had the squad picking up votes in the regional top eight poll.

The junior backstop becomes the first Seahawk since Justin Collett in 2009 to be chosen to the NEIBA All-New England Team, and 16th overall. He's also the first Salve Regina catcher to earn the honor since Ryan Holleran had back-to-back selections as a junior (2002) and senior (2003).
