FT. MYERS, Fla. - Salve Regina University baseball scored four runs in the seventh to overtake Mitchell College during a Gene Cusic Classic matchup in Ft. Myers. The Seahawks added two more runs in the eighth to double up the Mariners, 8-4, for their fourth straight win in Florida.

The Salve Regina baseball team was off to a rough start against Mitchell College. Although Ryan Kelly (Waldwick, N.J.) hit a triple in the first inning, there was no scoring until the Mariners scored four runs in the top of the third inning. But the Seahawks were able to get one run in the bottom of the third thanks to an error by the Mitchell College catcher. The next score was by Salve Regina in the bottom of the fifth, with a double by Daniel Donohue (Westbury, N.Y.) that allowed Sean Becker (Richmond, Va.) to score.

The Seahawks then rallied in the seventh inning, kicked off by a triple by Dominic Di Sano (Central Falls, R.I.), and followed by a double by Anthony Conte (Georgetown, Mass.) that brought Di Sano across home plate. A single by Becker got him on base, and then the Seahawks were able to advance from three batters hit by pitches in a row, which lead to Conte and Becker scoring. Tyler Colby (Easton, Conn.) also contributed with an RBI, allowing Kelly to score and the Salve Regina team to have a lead of 6-4 at the end of the seventh.

The Seahawks continued to hold the Mariners from scoring, and were able to add another two runs in the bottom of the eighth. After Di Sano got on base from being hit by a pitch, an RBI double by Becker brought him home. Then an RBI single by Donohue allowed Becker to score. The Salve Regina pitchers Branden Hoxsie (Warwick, R.I.) and Kevin Lambert (Fairfield, Conn.) overall struck out five Mariners and allowed seven hits, leading to the fourth straight win for the Seahawks with a final score of 8-4.
