Bursie struck out 10 in five innings of work in the Seahawks 7-0 shutout win over Nichols Friday afternoon. He allowed just two hits and walked one to improve to 4-3 on the season and lower his earned run average (ERA) to 2.79.

Bursie's selection marks the fourth time a Salve Regina baseball student-athlete has garnered conference weekly honors in 2011. Earlier this season, senior Pat Quinn (Middletown, N.J.) earned Pitcher of the Week honors while classmate Brendan Tapley (Narragansett, R.I.) was named both TCCC Player of the Week.

The Seahawks (20-19, 14-8 TCCC) open play in the conference playoffs Tuesday afternoon when they travel to Boston, Mass. for a 3 p.m. contest with Wentworth at Parsons Field.
