NEWPORT, R.I. (October 30, 2023) – Last week was the end of the regular season for several Seahawk sports and with that, the women's soccer, men's soccer and field hockey seasons came to a close. It was an exciting year featuring a slate of new rivals in the NEWMAC conference.

This upcoming week there will be five home contests and three away contests. Women's volleyball, women's ice hockey, equestrian, football, and men's ice hockey will all have the opportunity to put their training to the test in the coming days.

Field hockey finished out the season last Saturday, falling 8-1 to No. 20 ranked Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Julia Decker scored her 18th goal of the season with 14 minutes left to go in the game. Decker was assisted by Elizabeth Clark who bounced the ball off her stick, right to Decker's stick, who used the momentum to score. The Seahawks ended their first season in the NEWMAC with a 10-6 overall record and a 4-5 conference record. The team had 60 goals, 257 shots on goal, 42 assists, and 151 saves.

Springfield College hosted men's soccer on Saturday and established an early 2-0 lead after the end of the first half. Salve Regina, looking to pull even with Springfield, got themselves on the board when Ethan David scored his third goal of the season at 75:37 in to the game. David was assisted by Liam Berlingieri. Despite their best efforts, the Seahawks could not draw even with the Pride and when the final buzzer sounded it was the end of the program's first NEWMAC season.

Women's soccer ender their season with a 3-1 conference victory over Wellesley College last weekend. The Blue and the Seahawks wrestled with each other for the majority of the first half. Marissa Perachi scored the first goal of the day with just over a minute left until halftime. Perachi was assisted by Taylor Barnaby and Sydney Giampapa. Jessica Galante was the next Seahawk to score with 15 minutes left in the contest and was followed by Wellesley's Carrie Huang, giving the Blue their first and only goal of the day. Grace Hudson clinched the win by scoring the team's third goal with just 3:30 left in the game.

Although women's cross country and men's cross country competed at the NEWMAC Championships last Saturday, their season continues in two weeks at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship. On the Women's side, Isabella Hastings finished the 6,000-meter course in 26th place with a time of 24:54.1. Hastings was followed by Anna Weygang, who placed 43rd in 25:28.4.
