NEWPORT, R.I. (October 11, 2021) - Salve Regina University women's tennis finishes its Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season and readies for the postseason play. LET'S GO, SEAHAWKS!

TUESDAY (Oct. 12)
After a scoreless draw in Boston on Saturday, Salve Regina women's soccer (6-6-1, 2-1-1 CCC) stands behind five CCC schools who sport a 3-1-0 record in league play, and that includes the next Seahawk opponent, Endicott College, on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Gulls have a 25-3-1 mark in the all-time series. The most recent meeting in 2019, however, was a 2-1 victory for the Seahawks on Reynolds Field. The Seahawks knotted the score at 1-1 in the 16th minute as Katie Szemreylo blasted a free kick from in front of the visitor bench to the top right corner on the far post for her second goal of the season. Freshman Meagan McLaughlin delivered the game-winner when she took a long feed from Amanda Bentz and deposited it in the upper right corner.

When they last met in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's soccer championship (Nov. 9, 2019), Salve Regina celebrated its fourth conference title after Alessandro Oggiano and an own goal gave the Seahawks a 3-2 double-overtime victory against Endicott College at Toppa Field in Newport, Rhode Island. The current Seahawks (8-4-1, 3-1-0 CCC) play at the Gulls (4-5-2, 3-0-1 CCC) in Beverly, Mass., at 7 p.m. Oggiano scored three goals and assisted on two others last week. He factored in four of the five goals as the Seahawks ran their win streak to six games with a 5-0 score against Bridgewater State on Wednesday. At Wentworth, he scored his 10th of the season to tie the game in Boston on Saturday, 1-1, but the Leopards added the game-winner later in the first half.

WEDNESDAY (Oct. 13)
Salve Regina women's tennis (4-5, 2-4 CCC) took two non-league matches last week, 7-2 over UMass Dartmouth and 8-1 over University of Saint Joseph, the latter on the road in West Hartford, Conn. Sophomore Ellysa Tancrede ran her personal win streak to seven straight singles victories. The Seahawks finish their Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular season and ready for the postseason play. A 3:30 p.m. road match with Western New England University (2-4, 2-4 CCC), at Minnechaug High School, will determine the fifth and sixth seeds in the upcoming playoffs.

Salve Regina women's volleyball (9-6, 3-1 CCC) faces three teams away from the Rodgers Recreation Center this week after a 2-1 mark in its friendly home last week. A key matchup on Wednesday (7 p.m.) in Boston with the Leopards of Wentworth Institute of Technology (12-8, 4-1 CCC) gets the week started. On Saturday against Worcester State, Madison Lee posted a double-double with a match-high 11 kills and 10 digs. Salve Regina junior Kate Murphy led the Seahawks defense with a match-high 24 digs. Senior Nicole Karabaich notched the Seahawks second double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs. Salve Regina utilized three setters in the match, led by Katelyn O'Brien who collected a match-high 19 assists while Courtney Connor and Siena DeCicco each registered nine helpers.

SATURDAY (Oct. 16)
Alex Bowdler, Caroline McNeil, Pearl Lattanzi, Charlotte Martinez, and Olivia Lowthian carried Salve Regina sailing at the Great Herring Pond Open hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy in Buzzards Bay, Mass., to an impressive third place (out of 15). Three regattas this weekend include Captain Hurst (Hanover, N.H.), Crew's Regatta (Buzzards Bay, Mass.), and Savin Hill (Boston, Mass.).

Salve Regina men's and women's cross country runners will preview the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) championship course by racing in the Western New England Invitational (10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m.) in Springfield, Mass. The Seahawks earned their third invitational win of the season at the Tri-State Invitational hosted by CCRI on its Lincoln (R.I.) campus. The Seahawks have consistently enjoyed success in the Tri-State Invitational, winning the meet five times in the last eight years. The winning order was Cate Norton, Bre Shipman, Heather McKee, Christina Moran, Avery Braccia, Delaney Marek,  and Lindsey Sirois for the Seahawks.

Seahawk field hockey (8-4, 1-3 CCC) earned its first conference victory (4-0 at Nichols) and return to Gaudet Field after a three-game road trip. Today's non-leaguer versus Husson (12 p.m.) will also be a celebration for the eight Seahawk seniors - Hannah Bedrosian, Olivia Butler, Abby Dubuc, Sam Levey, Grace Parker, Lex Purcell, Eliza Timms, Kristen Wales. Timms continues to lead all CCC players in goals (15) and points (35). Butler ranks second in saves (58) among all conference goaltenders.

Salve Regina running back Joey Mauriello ran for 197 yards and two touchdowns (2, 13) on 17 carries to lead his football team (5-1, 1-1 CCC) to a 48-6 win against the University of New England in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Toppa Field. Mauriello leads all players in the CCC in rushing by over 100 yards per game (181.3 ypg; next player averages 74.8 ypg). Mauriello also has more touchdowns than any other rusher (eight, plus one receiving). Jack Maguire leads all CCC passers with 13 touchdowns. The Seahawks look to avenge a 2019 road loss to the Bison when it travels to Dudley, Mass., to face Nichols College (12 p.m.). Defensively, Dylan Budnik and Alex Pitser rank among the top with six and four sacks, respectively.

Salve Regina women's volleyball joins Western Connecticut State University and UMass Dartmouth in a tri-match hosted by the Corsairs (2 and 4 p.m.) in North Dartmouth, Mass.

Salve Regina men's soccer plays its second CCC match of the week against a foe from the North Shore, this one is Gordon College visiting Toppa Field (7 p.m.). Salve Regina is 2-1-1 in the last four meetings against the Scots. Three Seahawks rank in the top five in assists among CCC players - Alessandro Oggiano, Jordan Borges, and Evan Arpin.

SUNDAY (Oct. 17)
Seahawk women's soccer hosts the Scots at 5 p.m. at Toppa Field and seek their first win over Gordon College since 2015.
