PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) joined athletes from neighboring colleges and universities at the annual Rhode Island Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (RIAIAW) Distinguished Athlete Reception hosted by Brown University on Wednesday evening.

NEWPORT, R.I. - For the first time in the 67-year history of the organization, Words Unlimited has chosen a non-Division I athlete as its female athlete of the year. Rhode Island's organization of sportswriters, sportscasters, and publicists, Words Unlimited holds its annual banquet and awards ceremony on Sunday, February 24, 2013, with two Salve Regina University entities earning significant honors.

Seahawks land 33 on Fall Academic All-CCC

NEWPORT, R.I. – Salve Regina University has landed 33 student-athletes on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) 2012 Fall Academic All-Conference Team, announced Monday, January 28 by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Seniors Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) and Bobby Ernst (Needham, Mass.) represented the Salve Regina women's and men's soccer teams, respectively, as members of the 2012 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Men's and Women's Soccer All-Star Teams, which were announced on Friday morning.

Birrell ends her Salve Regina career as the program's all-time leader in points (181), goals (74), assists (33), and game-winning scores (14).

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina senior Kaitlyn Birrell was announced as a member of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer All-New England Team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), marking the third time in her career she has earned an All-Region selection. Birrell was one of just seven players from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) to be honored.

Birrell finished her Salve Regina career as the program's all-time leader in points, goals, and assists.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) has been selected to participate in the 2012 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. This contest showcases the top seniors in the region, selecting 21 athletes from 82 different schools to compete.

Salve Regina was one of only 150 schools to have both their men's and women's programs represented.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) was announced as the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season, earning a spot on the All-CCC First Team to head a list of three Seahawks to be named all-league. In addition to Birrell, junior Erin McCullough (Ludlow, Mass.) was selected to the All-CCC Second Team while junior Jacqueline McPherson (Mansfield, Mass.) earned All-CCC Honorable Mention.

Caitlin Eastwood scored in the 83rd minute but Salve Regina fell to Roger Williams, 3-1, and ended its season.

BRISTOL, R.I. - For the second straight year, Salve Regina University women's soccer conference title hopes ended in Bristol at the hands, er feet, of in-state rival Roger Williams.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Senior Kaitlyn Birrell (Hope, R.I.) notched her fourth hat trick of the year, breaking the Salve Regina record for goals in a season while leading the Seahawks to a 4-1 win over Nichols College during Senior Day at Reynolds Field on Wednesday. With the win, the Seahawks solidify the No. 7 seed in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship tournament, improving to 8-9-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the conference. The Bison's season comes to an end with a record of 3-12-2, falling to 0-9-0 during CCC play.

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Salve Regina women’s soccer team fell to Endicott, 3-1, on Saturday in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's soccer action at Endicott Stadium.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Eastern Nazarene sophomore Jules Speno (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) scored in the 88th minute to lift the Lions to a 1-0 victory over Salve Regina during Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at Reynolds Field on Wednesday evening. The win marked the Lions' first-ever victory over the Seahawks, improving the team to 8-6-2 on the year and 5-1-1 in the conference. The loss was the fourth straight for the Seahawks who slip to 7-8-1 overall and 2-4-1 during CCC play.

Birrell has scored all five of the Seahawks' goals over the past two contests.

BOSTON, Mass.—With five-and-a-half minutes to play in the first overtime period, sophomore Amanda Pugliese (Pembroke, Mass.) buried a free-kick just under the cross bar from 20 yards out to give UMass Boston (14-1) a 3-2 victory over Salve Regina University Seawhawks (7-7-1) at the Clark Athletic Field Monday.

BOSTON, Mass. – Senior Kaitlyn Birrell ‘s (Hope, R.I.) hat-trick wasn’t enough, as the Salve Regina University women’s soccer team fell 4-3 versus Wentworth in Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Sweeney Field.

The Seahawks' next scheduled match is this Saturday at Wentworth.
