NEWMAC Championship day one highlights

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (Friday, April 26, 2024) -- Seahawk women's track and field finished out day one at the NEWMAC Championship meet hosted by Springfield College on Friday. Athletes represented Salve Regina in the women's 100-meter run prelims, 100-meter hurdle prelims and javelin throw.
Several Seahawks saw personal bests including Kallie Saalfrank, Megan Curran, and Sydney Dufresne all in the javelin throw.
Olivia Tacconi took seventh in the 100-meter prelims with a time of 12.71. This improves on her school record, which she set last week, and qualifies her for the New England Division III Championship next week at Mount Holyoke College.
"This was a great start our championship weekend," said head coach Andrew Furst. "I can't wait to see what the competition brings tomorrow as we round out our program's first ever outdoor track and field NEWMAC Championship."

The Seahawks will be back in action for day to of the meet tomorrow, April 27. Salve Regina athletes will have the opportunity to compete for metals in the finals.
