NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina women's basketball landed two players on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) all-conference teams with freshman Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) earning a major honor as the league's Rookie of the Year.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) scored a game-high 27 points including six 3-pointers to lift Salve Regina University women's basketball to an 86-68 victory over Rivier University in the consolation game of the Fairfield Inn and Suites Tournament hosted by UMass Dartmouth.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Mary Eden (South Kingstown, R.I.) dished out a team-high five helpers to go with a game-best nine rebounds, two steals, and eight points. The junior captain also drew half a dozen offensive charges.

BRISTOL, R.I. - Second-seeded Roger Williams University escaped an upset bid by seventh-seeded Salve Regina University in the quarterfinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball championships, outlasting the Seahawks in double-overtime with a 51-47 final.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University women's basketball landed two players on the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) all-conference teams with freshman Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) earning a major honor as the league's Rookie of the Year. Scorpio also earned a selection to the second team, and is joined on the squad by sophomore teammate Kerri Beland (Attleboro, Mass.) who earned votes for a third team nod.

NEWPORT, R.I. - Freshman Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) scored 20 points on eight of 10 from the field, including three 3-pointers, to lead Salve Regina University women's basketball to its fifth straight victory, 67-44, over visiting Gordon College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) regular-season finale for both teams.
