Seahawks get an "A" from USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS – Salve Regina University women's cross country was listed among the 197 NCAA Division III women's cross country teams that earned U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as members of its 2012 Division III All-Academic Cross Country status last Friday.

A total of 197 institutions represent 39 conferences that compose the group. The MIAC had the most squads on the list with 11, followed by the NESCAC, Centennial Conference, and Middle Atlantic Conference which followed with 10.

Salve Regina joins Roger Williams University as the only Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) members with the honor.

Eastern Mennonite reported the highest cumulative team GPA in the country through the fall 2012 semester at 3.76. Pomona-Pitzer followed at 3.71.

All ten of the top ten finishing teams at the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Championships earned All-Academic status. Of the 32 teams that participated in the national meet, 28 of those earned All-Academic status.

To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.
