Palmquist paces the Seahawks again in NCAA regionals

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Freshman Aubrey Palmquist (Bristol, Conn.) continued to make her mark on Salve Regina's all-time performance lists on Saturday, leading the Seahawks with a stellar performance in the NCAA Division III New England Regional Cross Country Championship at Westfield State University.

Palmquist covered the 6,000-meter course in 23:27 and finished 91st in the field of 367 runners. The performance stands at No. 4 on the university's all-time list for 6,000 meters. Palmquist set the school record for 6K – 23:19 – at the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship on Oct. 27.

Junior Ema Waldschmidt (Verbank, N.Y.) was the second runner for the Seahawks', crossing the finish line in 24:15. Senior Alexis Gallipoli (Branford, Conn.), freshman Joelle Ross (Simsbury, Conn.) and freshman Jackie Ofria (Manchester, Conn.) made up the rest of the scoring five, finishing in 25:04, 25:40 and 25:43.

Freshman Lea Cure (Altamont, N.Y.) ran 26:51 and senior Antoinette Galdo (Park Ridge, N.J.) ran 28:13 as the Seahawks' sixth and seventh runners.

Palmquist, Waldschmidt, Gallipoli, Ross and Cure each improved over their previous performances at Westfield State this season. 

Salve Regina finished 28th of 51 scoring teams. MIT won the meet; Williams finished second.
