Seahawks seventh at Pop Crowell

WENHAM, Mass. - Junior Ema Waldschmidt (Verbank, N.Y.) finished 13th in a field of more than 300 runners to lead Salve Regina to a seventh place finish in the Pop Crowell Invitational at Gordon College.

Waldschmidt covered the 5,000-meter course in 19:16, with freshman Aubrey Palmquist (Bristol, Conn.) not far behind in 19th place at 19:27. Freshman Rachel Gedansky (Tolland, Conn.) finished 46th in 20:10; senior Ali Gallipoli (Branford, Conn.) was 53rd in 20:20 and freshman Joelle Ross (Simsbury, Conn.) was 62nd in 20:29 to round out the scoring five for the Seahawks.

Freshmen Jackie Ofria (Manchester, Conn.) and Shannon Holden (Hingham, Mass.) were Salve Regina's sixth and seventh runners with times of 20:38 and 20:50.

Wellesley placed four runners in the top 10 to finish first in the field of 30 teams. Westfield State finished second with 98 points; Bates was third with 100. Salve Regina posted a team score of 192.

Other Salve Regina finishers included freshman Lea Cure (Altamont, N.Y.) in 20:53; junior Sabrina Parisi (Gloucester, Mass.) in 21:40; senior Kelsey Windisch (Ridgefield, Conn.) in 21:50; sophomore Mary-Ashley Donelan (Upton, Mass.) in 22:08; senior Danielle Schioppo (North Haven, Conn.) in 22:20; freshman Rachel Pyne (Foxboro, Mass.) in 22:24; sophomore Carlie Currier (East Granby, Conn.) in 23:12; freshman Victoria Maxson (Old Saybrook, Conn.) in 23:57 and senior Karen Krupa (South Burlington, Vt.) in 25:15.

The team returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 6 at the James Early Invitational at Westfield State University.
