NEWPORT, R.I. – Senior Caroline Norton (Portland, Conn.) was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) female runner of the week for the third time this season on Tuesday morning.

Missing almost all of last season with an injury, Norton's outstanding comeback year continued this week with a first place finish at the Pop Crowell Invitational. Norton ran a career-best time of 19:13 during the 5k race to pace a field of 270 runners.

Her outstanding performance led the Seahawks to their second consecutive first place finish, tying Saint Anselm College with 56 points to stand atop a field of 26 schools.

Norton has now captured this award three times in the opening four weeks of the season. Her time of 19:13 ranks her among the all-time greats at Salve Regina University as the fourth fastest runner in program history.

Norton and the Seahawks will look to make it three straight first place finishes when they compete at the James Early Invitational this Saturday at 11 a.m. in Westfield, Mass.
