Ryan picks up TCCC honors for second time in three weeks

NEWPORT, R.I. - Salve Regina University freshman Kayley Ryan (Portland, Conn.) has been named The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) Women's Cross Country Runner and Rookie of the Week.

Ryan posted a 5K time of 19:31 and crossed the tape in sixth place out of 276 runners at the Pop Crowell Invitational, hosted by Gordon College on Saturday. Her performance anchored the Salve Regina lineup and lifted the Seahawks into a tie for the team championship with Southern New Hampshire University.

Her selection marks the second time in three weeks that she has earned Rookie of the Week honors as well as her first-ever Runner of the Week selection. She becomes the Seahawks first runner to garner both TCCC Women's Cross Country weekly honors since Paige Pallotto was named Runner and Rookie of the Week on October 19, 2009.

The Seahawks return to action on Saturday when they compete at Westfield State at 11 a.m.
