Seahawks serve up 3-1 victory over Rams

Framingham, Mass. – The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team defeated Framingham State University by a score of 3-1 on Thursday night in non-conference action. With the win, the Seahawks improve to 3-5 on the year.

The Seahawks got off to a hot start, taking each of the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 25-21.

After falling down 2-0 the Rams fought back to win the third set, 25-22. However, Salve Regina closed out the match with a 25-19 fourth set victory.

Sophomore Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) led all hitters with a game-high 11 kills and senior Megan Clancy (Chelmsford, Mass.) added a match-best 30 digs on the night for the Seahawks.

Head Coach of Salve Regina, Lauren Parsons, was proud of how her team remained, "calm and collected" throughout the night, whenever the Rams fought back.

The Rams were led by junior captain Andressa Fernandes and freshman Danielle Girard (Tivoli, N.Y.) who kept the Rams in it all night.  Fernandes finished with nine kills, four aces, and 14-digs, while sophomore Ashley Nee (Hanson, Mass.) added nine kills of her own.  Girard finished the night with six kills and 10 digs.

Framingham will now travel to Maine for the weekend and take on Anna Maria and St. Joseph's on Saturday.  Their next home-game will not be until October 4th when they host Western New England.

As for the Seahawks, they return to action on Saturday when they begin the conference portion of their schedule hosting Gordon at 1 p.m.
