NEWPORT, R.I - The Salve Regina University women's volleyball team earned the program's first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship selection on Monday afternoon. The Seahawks have been announced as the tournament's #5 seed, and will hit the road to face Keene State during a quarterfinal match up on Wednesday.

"We're very excited and honored to continue our season with the recent ECAC tournament selection," said Salve Regina head coach Lindsay Marshall. "It's a great chance for our seniors to get to play with our young program again and great opportunity for our underclassmen to gain experience in this tournament."

This has already been an historic season for the Seahawks who set the program record for wins (16), hosted a playoff game for the first time, earned their first-ever postseason victory, and now have procured their first ECAC selection. In addition, the team had four players selected to the All-Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) team, while Coach Marshall was named the CCC coach of the year.
