Seahawks make it four straight with 3-1 win over Lasell

NEWTON, Mass. -  The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) leading Salve Regina University women's volleyball team went to Lasell College on Thursday night and topped the Lasers, 3-1, at the Athletic Center.  The Lasers remain on a four game skid dropping their record at 7-11 overall (1-3 GNAC),  while the Seahawks captured their fourth straight win to improve to 10-6 overall (5-0 CCC).  
 
Salve Regina came out to win the first two sets of the evening, 25-22 and 25-16, before Lasell returned to control set three, 25-23.  The fourth and final set was a lopsided affair that landed in favor of the visitors, 25-12.
 
For the Seahawks, four players reached double-figures in the dig column, including Jennifer Duggan (Merrimack, N.H.) who notched 14 digs and 15 kills in an outstanding effort for the victors.  In addition, Jessica Meyer (Seymour, Conn.), Clare Adams (New Concord, Ohio), and Dianna Tauro (Melrose, Mass.) combined for 55 digs with a respective 15, 19, and 21 digs credited to them.
 
Taylor Violet (Tiverton, R.I.) handed out 39 assists in the contest with 14 kills being awarded to Julianne Barry (Randolph, Mass.). Adams also tallied 12 kills and Katelyn Beauregard (Darmouth, Mass.) and Jackie Cinquemani (East Islip, N.Y.) added six and five kills, respectively.
 
The Seahawks swung for a .271 attack percentage as a team and added 11 blocks and seven service aces to the mix.
 
Lasell was led offensively by sophomore Sara Biondo (Coventry, R.I.) who put down 12 kills in the match, while also collecting eight digs.  Freshman Alexis Chappell (Springfield, Mass.) added 10 points on her attack and seven defensive pick-ups.
 
Defensively, Lasell's freshman Anna Feeter (Peterborough, N.H.) had a match-high 17 digs, adding three points on her serve alone.  Jenna Lynn Geary (Marion, Mass.) and Marisa Visocchi (Whitman, Mass.) collectively recorded 26 digs, picking up 15 and 11 respectively.
 
Crozier put up 24 assists in the contest, adding nine digs and Drapeau put away seven kills and three blocks in the setback.
 
Lasell will look to halt their four game skip this weekend at the Union College Invitational.  Their weekend begins on Friday, October 7th at 8:00 p.m. against Hartwick College. The Seahawks will return to the court on Sunday to take part in the RIAIAW Tournament at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. starting at 10 a.m.
